QUICK
TURNAROUND
The time it takes to design a website can vary massively depending on your needs and how complex or bespoke the site needs to be. For example, a simple landing page or single page site will be quicker to design and launch than say a site that requires multiple pages or bespoke functionality. However, time should not be too big of a bearing on having the site you really want in the first place.
Every website I design is unique and, as such, the length of time it takes can vary depending on a number of variables. It's the equivalent of answering the age old question, "how long is a piece of string"? However, that said, I aim to start and complete most websites I undertake in no longer than two weeks*. In order to achieve this, I aim to work adopting the following design process:
STEP 1
I will send you a simple document outlining clearly what information I need from you including details about you or your business, contact details, products, prices, etc. It's all nicely laid out in an easy to understand format.
STEP 3
Depending on the outcomes from Step 2, this is the point at which any changes and / or amendments are made as per your instruction. Perhaps you weren't quite happy with something? This is the stage of the design process that it's put right.
STEP 2
I take all the information you have provided and use it to design and build a working first draft of your website. I will then arrange a meeting with you to demonstrate the site and how it all works.
STEP 4
I will arrange a follow up meeting with you to discuss and demonstrate the changes that have been made to the site before going live. You will also receive all information to access your site to keep it fresh and up to date. It is at this final stage that payment becomes due.
* note, a two week turnaround is based on a simple website with litte to no bespoke functionality. A more complex site will take significantly longer to design
Another reason why I am able to turn websites around relatively quickly despite working solo is because of my use of visual cloud-based designers. Cloud-based design platforms save both me as a single handed designer and my clients a lot of time providing a flexible yet streamlined way of working. Over the course of several years I have tried a lot of different platforms but my platform of choice is Wix. Over a long period of time I have established myself as a 'Wix Expert" and - yes - that is a thing! In other words, I have a deep understanding of how the platform works and how to get the most out of any given brief using their online design tools.
There are a number of advantages when using Wix that benefit both myself and prospective clients, including:
-
User-friendly platform
-
Attractive templates
-
Comprehensive customisation options
-
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) support
-
Enterprise-grade security
-
Integration of payment gateways, social media feeds as well as an entire library of first party apps
-
Reliable hosting
There are of course other design platforms out in the wild that other designers may prefer over and above Wix and there is also nothing stopping you having a go yourself. However, it's important to remember that unless you have both the time and knowledge, it can be an extremely time consuming process with a very steep learning curve! I am more than happy to advise anyone on the best course of action with no obligation, but if I'm given the opportunity to design your website for you, I'll do all the leg work so you can concentrate on what you know - your business.
